Personal Statement:
Dr. Sapia moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 2004 from Durham where she had been the Director of a community-based mental health, developmental disabilities, and forensic clinic serving children, adolescents and adults. She was also a Clinical Psychologist at the Center for Child and Family Health (Duke University/UNC affiliated trauma evaluation and treatment center)and Clinical Associate in the Dept. of Psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Sapia has maintained a private practice since being licensed in North Carolina in 2001. She is a currently a Captain in the Army National Guard Medical Detachment Unit serving as a Clinical Psychologist. She is a Child/Family Evaluation Program Examiner (CFEP) and Supervisor (formerly Child Forensic Evaluation Program through UNC-Chapel Hill). CFEP is an evaluation service for children and adolescents who are being investigated by CPS agencies in North Carolina as possible victims of abuse or neglect.
Dr. Sapia received her doctorate in Counseling and School Psychology from SUNY at Buffalo in 2000 and has held faculty positions in Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry at ECU, James Madison University and Duke Medical Center as well as in Pediatrics at the Brody School of Medicine.
